OUR TAKE ON PLATES
There are dozens of ballistic plate manufacturers out there but frankly, only a few that really put their money where their mouth is. Those are the ones that make the expensive investment in time and money certifying their plates under NIJ 0101.06 standards. That doesn't mean sending their plates to an independent testing lab to "meet" NIJ standards but actually being certified by The National Institute of Justice Compliance Testing Program (NIJ CTP). Huge difference, especially if you are in law enforcement. You can verify which manufacturers meet this certification by checking the NIJ’s Compliant Products List (CPL).
We are now assisting our customers by identifying which of our plates are certified under NIJ0101.06. Specifically, we recommend two manufacturers: Buffalo Armory and Slate Solutions. Buffalo Armory specializes in lighter weight, low cost Level III+ steel plates and comes with a 10 year warranty. Slate Solutions makes lightweight polyethylene (UHMWPE) and ceramic plates that keep you functional all day long. And they also come with a 10 year warranty. Check them out below.
